How to play Slide Path

Slide Path is a sliding tile puzzle with pipes. You slide tiles into the empty square until a single path runs from the source (the red circle) to the goal (the black circle). The water flows from the source as far as the pipes connect, so you can always see how far you've got. Every puzzle can be solved.

Slide Path rules

  1. The board has one empty square. A tile next to it can slide into it.
  2. Slide the tiles until one unbroken path of pipes runs from the source (red circle) to the goal (black circle).
  3. Tiles with screws are fixed and cannot be moved.
  4. A yellow tile with arrows stays in place, but turns a quarter turn when you tap it.
  5. The water flows from the source as far as the pipes connect. When it reaches the goal, the puzzle is solved.

How to solve a Slide Path

Follow the water

The water shows you exactly where the path breaks off. Look at the last tile it reaches and ask what kind of pipe the next square needs: a straight, a bend, or something that turns towards the goal. Then find a tile with that shape and work out how to bring it there.

Use the empty square as your workspace

You can only move a tile into the empty square, so that square is your tool. To bring a tile somewhere, move the empty square around it step by step. Try not to break up a part of the path that already works; move the empty square through areas you don't need yet.

Let the fixed tiles set the route

Tiles with screws never move, so the path has to fit around them, or through them if their pipes point the right way. Look at the fixed tiles first and work out which route they allow. On the higher levels, the yellow turning tiles add a choice: turn them to whichever direction the path needs.

You can make the board smaller or larger, or fit it to your screen.
